Amelia Lukas,

Founder & Principal

scintillating; phenomenal programming; impeccably curated; truly original
— Time Out New York
Amelia Lukas, Founder & Principal

An inspired communications expert and modern production pioneer, Amelia Lukas specializes in maximizing the impact of arts organizations. She creates community which is more deeply connected to and engaged in the arts. Through enriched experiences and stronger, more aligned communication channels, Amelia excels at helping clients identify and leverage resources to actualize organizational goals.

Amelia brings a wealth of experience to Oregon from diverse markets such as London, New York, San Francisco, and Boston, where she has held key roles in both large-scale and grassroots organizations. In serving on the Board of Directors for Chamber Music Northwest, she helps guide one of the most extensive classical music festivals in the nation. In 2020, she worked on a task force which managed Chamber Music Northwest’s transition to virtual performances due to the pandemic, which became a success model for festivals across the country. As All Classical Portland’s first Director of Community Engagement (2014 - 18), Amelia was an integral part of the team that brought the station to number one in the country for audience growth among classical radio stations. In that role, she successfully produced and promoted events at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, Hollywood Theater, Alberta Rose Theater, Nordia House, aboard the Portland Spirit, and as part of the Rose Festival, negotiating innovative partnerships with organizations such as TriMet, PGE, OMSI, the Rose Festival, LAIKA and Bob’s Red Mill.

With a passion for high-quality immersive experiences and a desire to re-contextualize classical music in modern society, Amelia founded the Brooklyn-based multimedia concert series Ear Heart Music in 2009. The “impressive (and)… feisty contemporary-classical concert series” (The New York Times) brought together talented, forward-thinking artists across genres of music, visual art, dance, theater, photography, lighting design, literature and film through more than 85 unique performances with over 60 premieres during its six seasons, receiving widespread, international acclaim. Ear Heart Music “arrived as a major cultural resource in the city,” (New York Arts) is celebrated for “repaving the landscape for new opera,” (Opera News) “pilot(ing) impressive events on a shoestring budget… (that are) both sonically seductive and thought-provoking” (New York Times) developing audiences that are “plentiful, knowledgeable, and keen” (New York Arts) and “generally attract(ing) a fuller and more extensive audience to embrace it, exuberantly... (and) always reaching yet another branch of the creative scene.” (Seen and Heard International) Her speaking engagements include both the Chamber Music America and Dance USA conferences, as well as Philip Glass' MATA Festival and the Portland Piano International inaugural contemporary piano festival, The Clearing. For five years, Amelia worked as Promotions Manager for the major music publisher G. Schirmer and Music Sales Classical, managing the dance and chamber music catalogs along with a roster of nine composers which included luminaries such as Terry Riley, David Lang, Julia Wolfe, and Michael Gordon. She has served on the Board of Directors for The Walden School, Opera Cabal, and on the advisory board for High Concept Laboratories.

In addition to her work with Aligned Artistry, Amelia is a Powell Flutes Artist, and performs with “a fine balance of virtuosity and poetry.” (New York Times) Her recent engagements include solo appearances with Chamber Music Northwest, Makrokosmos, United for Ukraine, Fear No Music, March Music Moderne, Kenny Endo, Portland Taiko, the Astoria Music Festival, Music in the Woods, Cascadia Composers, and for All Classical Portland’s live radio broadcasts, with additional performances for the Willamette Valley Chamber Music Festival, Oregon Bach Festival, Portland Piano International, TedX Portland, Friends of Chamber Music, 45th Parallel, Oregon Music Festival, and Bridgetown Orchestra. Past projects include performances at Carnegie’s Zankel and Weill Halls, The Stone, Bargemusic, (Le) Poisson Rouge, Roulette, Orford Sound Art Festival, and Lincoln Center. She holds degrees from the Manhattan School of Music (Dean’s List) and the Royal Academy of Music in London where she received three prizes for musical excellence. Throughout her college career at Linfield University, Lindsey honed her passion for the spoken word as Managing Director of the Linfield “Pawdcast” Network. As a double-major in Wine Studies and Journalism, she was a consistent recipient of the Lisa Shara-Hall Wine Education and Journalism Scholarship, created to honor the late Portland-area wine journalist.
